As Ben said in the previous post, there was not much information from Art about his first day at preschool, but there are some things to report. For one, he has decided that he will be Artie at school. I've tried out Artie on him as a nickname before but he prefers to be Arthur, until we got to preschool open house and I asked him what he would like me to write on his name tag, Art or Arthur. "Artie". It's the weirdest thing to have all these people calling him Artie, for his name tag, artwork and everything to say Artie when we NEVER call him that. Funny. Oh, and we aren't supposed to call him Artie. Only the teachers.
There's a white board in front of the classroom that lists what they will do that day. Today they were going to read two books, "What am I Feeling?" and "My New School". They were going to do two art projects. One was emotion stamps and the other was to make their name sticks (I forget what they called them.) They also went to the park and had lunch together.
It was a busy day. Art only really told me that he was thinking about Mama (the teacher said that he was sad when they got to the park because he thought I would be there, but then he started feeling better when they looked at the clock and realized that it would be lunchtime soon - he knew I would pick him up after lunch). He also told me that someone cried at school and he saw the teacher there from the other day, the open house.
So that's it. First day of school ever. I'm proud of him. And happy, too.
