5. The pool. Art LOVED being in the pool. It was hard work for us, since we had to wrestle with his freakishly strong body to keep his head above water, but he had a super fun time.
4. La Cocina. The hotel restaurant was really good, and anything grilled was spectacular.
3. The bus. I love public transportation, and since we stayed in a jungly area it was extra fun and beautiful. Plus I got to use some Spanish, of which I know the tiniest bit.
2. The Westin Regina Luxury Hotel. Even though we were only there for one night, it was amazing and kinda neat to see how the other half lives.
1. Botanical Gardens. The Botanical Gardens were closed the day we went but the American who runs the place let us on the grounds anyway. We walked through a small jungle trail and saw the biggest spider we had ever seen, hung out in the utopic cafe area and ate bananas, and walked down the river path where we skinny dipped. Try doing that when the place is open!
There were some lowlights, of course. Things were expensive, I got food poisoning at the crappy hotel we stayed on our last night and Puerto Vallarta is just a tourist trap crap-hole, but we had some quality family time.
